We realize
there are many local NY moving
companies to choose from and can be
difficult to distinguish one from
the other. The first step in
choosing the right Long Island
moving company is to check if they
are licensed and insured in New
York. Remember, reputable New York
movers are always licensed with the
NYDOT.
Also ask friends, family and
co-workers about their experiences
with the local movers they have
used.
It is also advisable to see if they
are members of any local trade
associations, such as LIMSA (The
Long Island Moving & Storage
Association), BBB (Better Business
Bureau) and AMSA (American Moving &
Storage Association). These
organizations require you to have a
reputable and commendable local
moving business. We are proud to be
accepted as members to the
following: |
|
 |
Long Island Moving & Storage
Association (LIMSA) was
established in 1933 to build
confidence in Long Island’s
moving industry. It checks a
mover’s DOT certificate,
worker’s compensation, and
reputation before accepting
the company as a member. It
also requires members to
adhere to a strict code of
ethics. |
|
|
American Moving & Storage
Association (AMSA) is a
private organization made up
of various moving companies,
designed to help both the
customer and the moving
company. They help decipher
government regulations and
can help with any questions
regarding the moving process |
|
|
Better Business Bureau (BBB)
is a private organization
that documents and
arbitrates complaints
between consumers and
business. They’re a great
source to check a company’s
reputation and reliability. |
|
|
New York State Dept. of
Transportation (NYDOT)
regulates all moves within
the entire New York State.
You can call 800.786.5368 to
verify each mover’s license
and insurance coverage. |
